For many of us in the cosmetic business, wether you are retail or wholesale, we always want to know, (need to know) what's "IN" or "OUT" and the latest scoop on the cosmetic industry altogether. Bottom line is, we all want to have the most & quickest return on our investment.
I have done some digging and found some really great resources online that is strictly all about Beauty.
Check out Makeupmoxie.com - http://www.makeupmoxie.com/beautyiq.html. Not only does this website feature at least 30 of the Best Beauty Blogs & Websites, but also features "Deals & Steals," "Makeup Buying Guide," and "Offers."
MakeupAlley http://www.makeupalley.com/, probably has the Best Makeup forum online. Not only do people like you & I refer to this website, but so do the "Brands."
For those of you that are selling on places like Ebay or Amazon - you may want to use a program offered by Hammertap. Hammertap was really designed for those that sell on Ebay. You are able to pretty much search for just about anything that was sold on Ebay in the last 12 months - by entering keyword or by seller.
Another way to research products is by "Keywords" or "Phrases." There are many SEO Tool/Search Engines on the internet today that offer you Free services. What I found interesting about using these free SEO Tools, is that I can look up which cosmetic brand gets the most hits per day AND by which keyword they used to get those hits. Pretty cool!

TOP COSMETIC BRANDS OFFERING FREE MAKEUP
Oops.... Wow, I never thought I would post something like this, as I am in the cosmetic wholesale business. But, it's just too good of a deal and think that anyone who buys branded cosmetics should know about it. Our local news station, WFTV Channel 9 West Palm , has all the information listed on their web site here: http://www.wftv.com/money/18489205/detail.html. A group of consumer's filed a class action lawsuit suing several cosmetic maker's and department store's for price-fixing. Consumer's won and now these brands have agreed to give away $175 million worth of free products. The thing is, this deal only applies to shopper's who bought specific products between 1994 and 2003. BUT retailer's are saying they will just have "to take their word for it." This deal is only good at certain stores Nationwide. This web site http://www.cosmeticssettlement.com/ provides all the settlement information, including the participating store's and free products being offered. HURRY - deal is good from Jan. 20th thru Jan. 27th.

The Economy Today and The Off Price Market
I have had so many recent discussions with clients from all parts of the world concerning our Economy crisis and how it will effect our type of business in the Off-Price Market.
You know, one thing I can say for certain, is that I can't think of a better type of business to be in right now, then the Off-Price Market, particularly Health and Beauty Aids. With so many families today having financial difficulties, many of them are looking for those "bargains" opposed to paying top dollar at their favorite department store.
The funny thing is, if you talk to anyone over the age of say 55, (men particularly) they would say the Whole World is going to STOP buying cosmetics and skin care because of our Economy crisis. But the truth of the matter is, I can't think of too many women that would take one step out their front door without having at least powder & gloss on their face. (at least I know I definitely would not)
It doesn't mean, that those women are going to continue paying top dollar, it means they will shop elsewhere to find their favorite brand or at least something comparable at a lesser price.
Our business has been staying pretty steady over the last few months. In fact, over the past month and a half, it's been pretty darn busy. That's not a bad sign!
So what I'm trying to say here, is that we need to continue operating our business as we normally would. We cannot listen to every news station or radio station and get "scared" because the market dropped 300 points.
And if the truth be told...... there are individuals and companies that pull out on TOP at a time like this.
